BECOME A LOON WATCHER

SLA has partnered with the Minnesota DNR to survey both Siseebakwet and the little lake (“South Sugar”) for all loon activity this summer. Three volunteers are the committee but need the rest of you to help. Anything you observe is relevant but we are particularly interested in nesting sites, chicks, and threats to loon safety. Incidents with watercraft or humans scaring the birds should be recorded. BUT, you don’t have to write on the survey or anywhere. You can call, text or email one of the three members (Betsy, Karen, Mary) and we’ll record it. Please see the survey chart and the maps. We divided the big lake into quadrants to make it easier to describe where you saw loon activity. We thank you in advance for your help! And, PLEASE, we truly need your help.
